The Scotland 7s team will compete in the Bowl competition on day two of the IRB Sevens World Series in Wellington, New Zealand, having won only one of their three pool fixtures this morning.

The Scots, seeded third in their section, lost to those ranked above them - Australia (24-7) and Fiji (36-5) - before disposing Papua New Guinea (34-5).

Following the final game of the day, Scotland 7s coach, Stephen Gemmell, said: "We were seeded third in our pool and we finished third so it's where we are.

"We were off the pace in our first two games, and when you're playing teams like Australia and Fiji, then you'll get punished and punished badly."
