Fergus Wallace - Coach

Former Scotland and Glasgow Warriors flanker Fergus Wallace played in Glasgow colours for a decade captaining them through six campaigns and has been named coach of the 2009 Bone Steelers team.



Duncan Hodge

Duncan Hodge put the boot into England in 2000 when Scotland sensationally beat them at Murrayfield. He scored all 19 points in that match, with a try, conversion and four penalties.

On his selection a delighted Duncan Hodge said: “I have toured with Scotland many times but the opportunity to go and play at the Dubai Rugby Sevens with the Bone Steelers is a fantastic opportunity. I can’t wait to team up with some of the guys I played with at international level like Stuart [Reid] and Derrick [Lee] and play my part in what I hope will be a successful tournament.”



Stuart Reid

Stuart Reid won 8 caps for Scotland as a back row specialist between 1995 and 2000 and played club rugby for Leeds, Edinburgh and Narbonne.

Stuart Reid said: “The Bone Steelers are a well established touring side, which I’m thrilled to be part of. I have faced Gareth [Flockhart] many times before at club level so I’m looking forward to being on the same side as him for a change.”



Gareth Flockhart

Former Scotland Sevens forward Gareth Flockhart toured with the Steelers in 2004 and played for Glasgow between 1998 and 2002.



Rowen Shepherd

Rowen Shepherd made his international debut for Scotland in 1995 and was an invaluable member of the team until 1998 winning 20 caps and scoring 104 points for his country.

He started his career with Melrose before joining Glasgow Caledonians and then went on to become one of the first players in Scotland to sign a professional contract, he moved to English Premiership club Sale Sharks where he remained as assistant coach for 3 seasons.

Rowen is now a Director with Red Sky Management and is delighted to be part of the Bone Steelers squad for this year's Dubai 7s.

He said: "It's fantastic to go out to Dubai with the Bone Steelers. I've been aware of the team for many years and heard plenty about them from the lads that have toured with them in the past. They have an excellent reputation within the Scottish rugby community and I am really looking forward to playing a part in their success."



Derrick Lee

The Former Edinburgh and Scotland full back won 12 caps for Scotland and toured with the Bone Steelers in 2005.



Fergus Henderson

Former Edinburgh back Fergus Henderson was selected for the Bone Steelers for the first time in 2009.



Glenn Metcalfe

New Zealand-born Metcalfe, started his Scottish club career in 1997 with the then newly-formed Glasgow Hawks side who romped to the Second Division title as well as the Scottish Cup that season.

His jinky, unpredictable running, strong defensive skills and accurate goal kicking made him one of the outstanding players in Scottish club rugby that season and was recently voted Glasgow Hawks' Player of the Decade.

Metcalfe also became a key member of the Scottish National team, winning 38 caps and playing in all four matches of their victorious Five Nations Championship in 1999.

Glenn Metcalfe said: “Being selected for the Bone Steelers is a proud moment for me. I’ve played with a lot of the lads in the squad and I can’t wait to team up with them again in Dubai later in the year”.



Graham Shiel

Centre Graham Shiel won 18 caps for Scotland, with his last coming against New Zealand in Auckland in 2000, whilst Lock David Boswell Captained Scottish Premier Division One side Heriot’s in 2000.

Graham Shiel said: “The Bone Steelers squad for this year’s Dubai 7s is looking really strong and I’m delighted to be part of it”.

James McLaren

McLaren, who won 30 caps for Scotland between 1999 and 2003, was a key member of the Bone Steelers squad in 2004, when they advanced to the International Invitation Plate semi-final and then again in 2007 when they reached the Trophy quarter-final of the same competition.

James McLaren said: “I have fantastic memories of playing for the Bone Steelers and with the squad that’s been put together this year I think we’ve got a great chance of progressing far in the tournament.”



Ross McNulty

Former Edinburgh Reivers and Watsonians prop Ross McNulty was selected for the Bone Steelers for the first time in 2009.



Gregor Townsend

The former Scotland stand-off and current Scotland Attack Coach played for the Steelers back in 2005 when they sensationally lifted the International Invitation plate. 

Townsend represented both Scotland and the British and Irish Lions winning 82 caps for Scotland and 2 for the Lions predominantly as fly-half.
 
Gregor Townsend said: “I’m really excited about representing the Bone Steelers again at this year’s Dubai Sevens. The opportunity to play with some of my former team-mates in what is one of the best Sevens events in the world was too good to turn down."



Dave McIvor

Former Scotland flanker Dave McIvor was selected for the Bone Steelers for the first time in 2009.



Stevie Scott

The former Edinburgh and Borders hooker is the current Scotland Lineout Coach.



Graham Steadman

The former Great Britain Rugby League international played for and coached Castleford. He also acted as Assistant Coach for the Great Britain Rugby League Team, before joining Munster as their Defence Coach in 2004.

He was appointed the Ireland Defence Coach in September 2005 and then took up the same position with Scotland in 2008.
